Privacy Policy
DoomShield, by BasedLabs · Last updated June 16, 2026
This policy explains what DoomShield (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and the choices you have. DoomShield blocks selected social apps until you complete real-world exercise reps to earn access back.
Data stored on your device
Your blocking settings, unlock history, and push-up records are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you opt into the Squad (friends) feature.
Account & social data (Squad feature)
If you use the optional Squad feature, we create an anonymous account for you and store the following on our backend (Supabase):
- A display name you choose (default “Anon”)
- A randomly generated invite code
- Your streak counts, daily push-up/unlock totals, and last-active date
- Your friend connections (people you add by code)
- A push notification token, so friends can “nudge” you
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or contacts. The account is anonymous — it is not linked to a personal identity.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which records purchase and device-identifier data to operate subscriptions, prevent fraud, and restore your access across devices. We never receive your full payment card details.
Analytics & advertising
We use the following services to understand usage and measure our ads:
- PostHog — product analytics (events, funnels, device type).
- Meta and TikTok — ad-attribution SDKs that measure whether an ad led to an install or subscription. These may use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA).
On iOS, we only access the advertising identifier and enable cross-app tracking after you grant permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, we do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Permissions
- Camera — used only to count your push-ups on-device. Camera frames are processed live and are not recorded, stored, or uploaded.
- Notifications — used for friend nudges, trial reminders, and re-block alerts.
- Screen Time (Family Controls) — used to enforce app blocking. App selections are kept private by Apple; we only ever see how many apps you selected, never which ones.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account & data inside the app. This erases your profile, streaks, friends, activity, and push token from our servers and wipes local data from your device. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers named above (Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, PostHog, Meta, TikTok) strictly to operate the app, and as required by law.
Children
DoomShield is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
